With an annual capacity of 2,000,000 litres, Bowmore uses Islay barley whenever it can, although due to high demand and a low capacity traditional malting hall, it imports already malted barley from other parts of Scotland and the UK.
The whiskies produced by this distillery are characterized by being the lightest in peat and smoked southern Islay and be among the softest of the island. More powerful than its Bunnahabhain neighbours, Bowmore produces whiskies with lighter peat and smoked notes than the distilleries around Port Ellen, Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig.
Country: Scotland.
Region: Islay.
Style: Single Malt.
Breeding: Aged in hogsheads, Spanish half barrels, European oak that have previously contained sherry.
Nose: Dried fruit, orange, bitter cocoa and a touch of cinnamon.
Mouth: The orange reappears, but this time in the form of toasted peel, sea salt and toasted malt.
Final: Spicy, in which the nut stands out with smoked memories.
Bowmore 10 Years presents us with the opportunity to enter the world of peat and smoked products that have made Islay famous with an exceptional contrast provided by the use of sherry barrels. An intense and contrasting whisky ideal for lovers of intensity.
