Benromach was born in 1898 and today is the smallest active distillery in Speyside, with a staff of three men and an annual production of approximately 300,000 liters.
The distillery is owned by the renowned independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, is located on the outskirts of the city of Forres and uses the pure waters of the nearby Chapeltown spring. Since its inauguration in 1898, the distillery has undergone numerous changes of ownership and periods of inactivity, the last time Benromach was bottled as a single malt before the current owner restored the distillery was in 1900.
Gordon & MacPhail bought the distillery in 1993 and in 1996 announced the revival of Benromach. The reconstruction of the distillery began in 1997 and in 1998 the first distillates sprouted from the stills.
