This whiskey is made by the independent bottler Signatory, founded in 1988 and which today belongs and is run by the same family. In this case, Signatory uses a Glenrothes whiskey from the Speyside region.
Signatory's name derives from the fact that his initial intention was to find someone famous to sign labels for bottles produced from a single barrel. The first barrel they bought was a 1968 Glenlivet barrel, which was sold long before they found a famous person.
No cold distillation or "unchillfilfeterd"; Cold distillation is a process that is used to eliminate fats and oils that are found natrually in malt. Large distilleries use it to eliminate turbidity and also to eliminate differences between their whiskey. Being a single barrel, the worry disappears of having to maintain the same flavor and notes, giving more importance to the natural flavors and the body of the whiskey.
