Cockspur Very Special Old Reserve 12 Years 70cl 40% vol. is a Caribbean rum made on the island of Barbados since 1884. Awarded with several gold medals at the IWSC, it is made with a mixture of the oldest rums in the distillery, Cockspur VSOR is powerful and complex, with a rich nose with notes of tofe, vanilla and oak and a long finish where the wood stands out.

The Cockspur Distillery

Founded in 1884 by Valdemar Hanschell, a Danish settled in Barbados, one of the largest ports in the Caribbean, with the aim of establishing a point where ships could buy rum, food and other supplies.

Valdemar's business and rum soon became the best-selling rum in Barbados, distilled by The West Indies Rum Distillery, a pioneer distillery in using column stills to make rum, a complex rum, dry and fresh and compared to the distillates of the time, clean.

Aging: Rums age an average of twelve years in bourbon American oak barrels.

Nose: Full, with outstanding notes of vanilla, coconut and oak.

Mouth: Sweet notes of cocoa and caramel give way to an end dominated by the barrel in the form of toast, vanilla and a bourbon souvenir.
