Plantation is Alexandre Gabriel, with great experience on the one hand, in the world of Cognac, with Maison Ferrand, one of the oldest distilleries in the region and on the other hand, in the world of gin, with Citadelle. Alexandre, after selling a series of Cognac barrels to a Caribbean distillery, decides to travel during the 1990s throughout the Caribbean, in search of expressions of the highest quality that represent the Terroir where they have been made, to later use the experience in the aging and the processes of making and mixing rums to captivate the essence of countries in rums from different areas, styles and vintages recognized and awarded around the globe.
Plantation bottles rums that respect the nature of the Terroir where they were conceived; they are distilled and aged the first few years in the tropical climate in which they are conceived, in ex-bourbon barrels. The second part of ageing takes place in French oak barrels in the continental climate of Chateau de Bonbonnet, in the heart of Charentes, France; they are blended and bottled in France in a traditional way, using only water and rum.
Thanks to his great work and career in the world of rum, Alexandre Gabriel is awarded in 2012 at the Master Blender World's Best Rum Awards with the highest distinction, the 'Golden Barrel Award'.
