The winery is located in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa. The family winery has been active for more than two centuries. It is in 1970 when Luis Cañas underwent a radical change and went from marketing his bulk wines to bottling them, making great achievements in increasing demand. Today, their upbringing and reserves stand out for their level of quality.
The varieties used for this wine are Tempranillo together with the queen of red grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery has a total of 780 plots, with an average vine age of over 45 years. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 400 and 700 meters above sea level.
The wine ages 12 distributed in French (60%) and American (40%) oak barrels. Barrel age 3 years.
