The winery is located in the town of Gratallops in the Priorat area. It was created by Álvaro Palacios, son of Rioja winemakers, accompanied by a group of local viticulturists, who opted for slate (licorella) soils, the Mediterranean climate and the location of the vineyards.
The vineyards cover an area of 8 hectares and are between 15 and 70 years old. They are planted on vertigo slopes, which make it impossible to access with mechanised means, at an altitude of between 300 and 400 metres above sea level, located on eight estates distributed throughout the village of Gratallops..
For the elaboration of this wine, Vi de Vila (village wine), Garnacha grapes from old vines accompanied by Cariñena have been used, which are found in 8 plots in the municipality of Gratallops. They have been harvested manually by selecting the best bunches, transporting them in small wooden boxes. It is aged for 18 months in 225l. French oak barrels.
Score in the year 2015 with 94 points Peñín. It is a wine that we recommend to pair with beef, rice meat, stews, duck, cured cheeses, legumes and Iberian sausage. Serve at a temperature of 18ºC.
Nose: Mineral aroma, mixed with notes of vanilla and toasted.
Mouth: Mature, unctuous and persistent tannins.
