The winery is located in the municipality of Haro province of La Rioja. La Rioja Alta is one of the oldest wineries in the district of Estación de Haro (it is a unique place where great wines have been made). Welcome to the D.O.Ca. Rioja,
The vineyards have an area of 400 hectares, all owned. The age of the vines is more than 40 years and they are planted in calcareous clay soils. The predominant climate is continental with a touch of Atlantic. The grapes used for the elaboration are Tempranillo with a small percentage of Graciano.
Harvesting is done manually in 15 kg boxes and then brought in bunches to the table for selection. The ageing is carried out in American oak barrels (made in the same cellar) for 48 months. This wine is only made when the vintages are exceptional.
Score in the 2011 vintage with 96 Parker and 95 Penín points.
