The Bowmore Distillery is located on the island of Islay, founded in 1779 by David Simson, Bowmore is one of the oldest producers on the island and has the oldest Scottish whiskey maturation winery in Scotland.
Bowmore uses water for its distillates that extract from the Laggan River and is the only Scottish distillery located below sea level.
Country: Scotland.
Region: Islay.
Style: Single Malt.
Aging: Matured in American oak barrels that have bourbon content of first and second use. The first-use barrels give the whiskey the sweet vanilla point, spices and the smoked notes of roasted oak; The second barrels, having contained the freshly distilled whiskey, provide characteristics of the distillery itself, freshness, complexity and the characteristic note of Bowmore, the creamy malt and honey character.
Nose: Smoked peat notes balanced by fresh honey and cinnamon appear on the nose.
Mouth: Citrus, with a saline, bourbon and smoked vanilla.
Finish: Medium and dry end persistence in which smoked notes dissipate little by little.
Small Batch by Bowmore is a balanced whiskey in which you'll find soft smoky notes, salty notes and sweet vanilla. A great whiskey both to start with Islay whiskeys and with the character of the Bowmore distillery, great value for money.
