The Bunnahabhain distillery is located north of the island of Islay, founded in 1881 by William Robertson and the brothers James and William Greenless, Bunnahabhain, which translated from Gaelic means "mouth of the river", is located in the mouth of the Margadale spring, source of the water used by the distillery for its whiskeys.
Bunnahabhain is known for making whiskeys with notes of nuts and malt on a very soft peat bottom, the softest of Islay.
