The Ardbeg distillery of the Gaelic " Àrd Beag" or "Little Cape" is located in Ardbeg, a small town on the south coast of the island of Islay, located on the west coast of Scotland. The first distillations of Ardbeg date back to 1798 although it was not legally marketed until 1815.
The whiskey produced by Ardbeg is considered one of the most disturbed whiskeys in the world, and most of its expressions use malts from Port Ellen with a level of 55 PPM. Ardbeg also does not filter in the cold, thus preserving oils and aromas from malt that would be lost if the filtrate was not omitted, and as a general rule, bottling its whiskeys well above the minimum of 40%, highlighting Ardbeg 10 to 46%, Uigeadail al 54.2% and Corryvreckan at 57.1%.
Ardbeg is one of Islay's distilleries with more international recognition, highlighting;
