Glen Garioch distillery

Glen Garioch distillery is probably the first licensed distillery in Scotland, appearing for the first time in the Aberdeen Journal on 1 December 1785. And selling whisky since 1797.


Pronounced Glen Geery, the distillery is located in Oldmeldrum, near Aberdeen, northwest of Scotland. Surrounded by barley fields, it is said to be one of the best in Scotland.


The general character and philosophy of the distillery is not to use cold filtration in their whiskies and to bottle with a high volume of alcohol, enhancing the characteristic flavors of their whiskies. The aromatic profile of Glen Garioch goes through malted barley, nutmeg, hazelnuts, apple and grapefruit.
