Glenmorangie 18 Years 70cl 43% vol. (Antigua Presentation) is a malt whiskey made in the Scottish Highlands before the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton group acquired the distillery. Aged in ex-bourbon American oak barrels and finished in sherry barrels, this Glenmorangie presentation is increasingly difficult to find, a complex whiskey and enveloping palate.
The name Glenmorangie comes from the Gaelic place name "Gleann Mòr na Sìth" or "Valley of Tranquility" with which the area where the distillery is built is located, located near the Tarlogie springs, in Ross-shire, in the Scottish Highlands region.
The history of the distillery begins, of course, on the date of its founding, founded in 1843 by William Matheson, when at last, William gets the license to distill whiskey in an old brewery, located near Tarlogie and buy two second-hand stills, previously used to distill gin.
In 1918 the distillery became the property of Macdonald and Muir, who led the distillery in a terribly difficult framework, during the war, the ban and the great depression. Thanks to excellent management in such complicated times, in 1977 Glenmorangie experiences great growth as a brand, a fact that requires the expansion of the distillery, in which it is decided to double the number of stills and expand the storage space.
The year 1990 marks a before and after for Glenmorangie, as it manages to buy 650 acres around the Tarlogie water source and doubles, again, the number of stills, this time, up to eight.
